Electric Peonies

rusty machine

she flings this bling from her being
cashes in on peony kisses
iris waves a blue flag of truce
in the land of commodity

a new economy of
dirt and rainwater runs
in rivulets around her navel

watching poor old beast
limping along
she wavers
between pity and disdain

how much longer
before it all spirals
she wonders
crazy down the drain
